Know About Heavy Steel Cutting: Oxy-Fuel

To cut heavy-steel, a steel processing company uses the oxy-fuel process. Let us talk about it in detail.

Oxy-fuel cutting is a chemical reaction amid pure oxygen and steel to produce iron oxide. It is agile & controlled rusting. Oxy-fuel cutting Companies use Preheat flames to raise the surface of the steel to around 1800°F. Pure oxygen is then led to the heated area in a subtle, high-pressure stream. With the steel oxidizing, the preheat and oxygen stream are continually moving to create a continuous cut.

The output, which is steel, will appear as sharp and smooth.

The metals that oxides at a lower melting point than the base metal can be cut through the Oxy-fuel cutting process. Else it can lead to a protective crust. Therefore, only low carbon steel and few low alloys meet the above requirement and can be cut with the oxy-fuel process.

A good oxy-fuel cut has the below-mentioned features:

1. Cut face square concerning top surface

2. Cut face flat top to bottom (no undercut)

3. Square top corner (with minimum radius)

4. Clean, smooth surface with near-vertical draglines

5. Few to no residue on the bottom edge (removed by scraping)

Advantages of oxy-fuel cutting:

1. Much accurate

2. A small torch reaching tiny spots

3. Can cut extremely thick materials

4. Low operational costs

Another standard process is the Pile foundation, which is a deep foundation for strengthening the structure and shifting the load at the needed depth by end bearing or skin friction.

We require Pile Foundation when -

Top layers of soil are extremely compressible for carrying structural loads (using friction pile) through shallow foundations.

Rock level is deep enough for end-bearing pile foundations to provide a more cost-effective design.

Lateral forces are nearly pre-eminent.

Presence of expansive and collapsible soils at the site

Offshore structures

Strong uplift forces on shallow foundations due to the shallow water tables can be partly transmitted to Piles.

Conclusion:

Many steel manufacturing companies use high-end machinery with high productivity following the same procedures. Framing H-beams, tubes, T-bars, bulb profiles, and square tubes have their challenges but with apt technology and right skills.

Companies like Browning Enterprises can offer finer outputs with less operational costs and extremely accurate cuts. They have years of fabricating experience servicing several industries such as feed and grain, highway infrastructure, deep foundation, governmental, and marine and rail.
