When we talk about “Plasma” it means a collection of
charged particles with lit bit properties of a gas but in form of a good
conductor of electricity. When we say about Plasma Cutting, it’s quite an easy
job. Take that stream of electricity flowing through a gas, and tighten it
through a small maw. Now that stream is really dense and moving very fast. The
resulting stream can melt and blow through most metals quite easily. All good
and reliable Plasma
cutting company in Alabama use this method. Some companies use systems
that apply a non-transferred arc, but those are not usually used for cutting.
So basically plasma cutting is only used for materials that are conductive,
mainly mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
In the coming paras, we
will talk about a few more of these processes.
We talked about a plasma cutting torch that is used for cutting metals
for numerous purposes. When we say CNC plasma it means that a computer directs
the machines as per the numerical codes in a program. CNC is basically
“Computer Numerical Control”. So CNC Plasma Cutting is a process of cutting 2D shapes
from sheet metal using a high temperature, high-speed stream of ionized gas.
The substance is heated to a molten condition and the high-speed gas stream
blows the material away. Plasma cutting offers low cost since no custom tooling
is needed. Steel
plasma cutting is
generally used to cut 2D shapes not requiring high precision or fine detail.
Then there is Oxy-fuel cutting which a reliable, accurate and reasonable
technique used for the cutting of mild steel. It’s important to note that only
metals whose oxidizes have a lower melting point than the base metal itself can
be cut with this process. Or else as soon as the metal oxidizes it terminates
the oxidation by forming a protective crust.
